We are pleased to have the opportunity to offer a skill building group targeting social settings, complimented by creative music.
The program will begin and end with group circle/music time and will concentrate on building school readiness skills and peer interaction (turn taking, appropriate participation, following instructions and include peer initiation).
During small group time, the teacher/adult ratio will be 4:1 as the children experience and practice the social skills associated within each activity.
DRAMATIC DOOR:
Presents “how to” at a restaurant, dinner table, community outing, movie theatre, etc…complete with all the props
GAMES GALORE:
- Board game – teaching following rules, social conversation and the opportunity to accept winning or losing
- Co-operative game – skill building in typical JK/SK popular activities (duck, duck goose, red light green light…)
To make friends while learning to initiate, maintain and end play.
SNACK TIME
- often added in the middle of the afternoon as an interactive, social opportunity for creating and finishing a project successfully (eg. Preparing a fruit salad). Each snack activity is enhanced with a recipe for the children to follow and the promotion of social conversation.
This program focuses on fostering social interactions and communication between the children.
